Lucia Anaya is a writer based in Chicago, Illinois. She received her BA in journalism from DePaul University, and her MA in New Arts Journalism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She’s the former assistant editor of The Gate, a bilingual community newspaper covering Chicago’s West and South Side communities. Lucia is a recipient of Northwestern University’s Social Justice News Nexus fellowship in 2015, an award that allowed her to develop and write an investigative story about LeClaire Courts, a former Chicago public housing project where former residents are still fighting to return. She is currently a director at City Bureau, a non-profit civic news lab in Chicago that brings journalists and communities together to produce impactful and equitable media.
